A voice for every child, on the iPad they already use
Vox Incanto is an AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) app for iPad. Children who don't speak, or don't speak yet, tap symbols to build what they want to say, and the iPad says it aloud.
In development. Coming to the App Store.
Try it: tap the symbols, then Speak.
Colours follow the Modified Fitzgerald Key: green for doing words, orange for things and places, blue for describing words, pink for social words and red for important ones.
How it works
-
Buttons stay where they are
A word keeps its place on the grid, so a child's hand learns where it is, the way you learn a keyboard.
-
Works without internet
Boards and symbols are kept on the iPad. Changes made by adults sync when it's back online.
-
Nothing moves under a child
Updates wait until the child has finished, so the board they're using never changes in front of them.
-
Adults set it up
Parents and carers edit boards and settings in an adult area, behind their own PIN.
